Admissions

Welcome to FPCNS Admissions.

We thank you for your interest in the First Presbyterian Church Nursery School.

Admissions for the 2017-18 School Year

The admissions process takes place during the year prior to intended entry.  Children who will be 2 years old on or before May 31, 2017 (age 2.3 or older by September 2017) are eligible to apply for the 2017-18 school year.

The application deadline for the 2017-18 admissions season has now passed.

We do continue to keep a very active wait list of applicant families interested in joining the FPCNS school community.

Families are welcome to complete an application request form (see link below), and we will be very gald to contact you should additional admissions space become available during the admissions season, or if enrollment space becomes available before the start of the 2017-18 school year.

Application Process

In an effort to make the admissions process equitable for all interested families, a lottery is used to determine the applicants who will proceed through the admissions process.

Admissions applications may be downloaded from our website once you successfully complete the FPCNS Admissions Application Request Form.

All 2017-18 admissions applications must be completed and returned to FPCNS no later than noon on October 14th, 2016.  Applications received by October 14th will be entered into our admissions lottery. We ask that completed applications be returned to FPCNS in hard copy form.

Applicants

All families whose applications are entered into the lottery will be notified of the outcome by mail by the end of October, 2016.

Parents of applicants whose names are selected in the lottery will be contacted to schedule a school tour OR attend an Open House in November or December. In January or February, applicant children will visit a classroom for a small-group "play date" with one parent. Letters of notification will be mailed on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 in accordance with dates set by the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York, (ISAAGNY).

Financial Assistance Applicants

Financial Assistance is available for families with a demonstrated need through the FPCNS Scholarship Fund.  As a part of our commitment to diversity at FPCNS, we actively raise funds to provide financial assistance for children who would otherwise not be able to attend our school. Families should indicate on their applications if they wish to apply for financial assistance. The FPCNS application fee will then be waived, a separate financial aid application will need to be submitted, and a copy of your most recent federal tax return must be provided to FPCNS by October 14th, 2016.

Admissions applications for families interested in financial assistance may be downloaded from our website once you successfully complete the FPCNS Admissions Application Request Form. The application must be completed and returned to FPCNS no later than noon on October 14th, 2016.  When a family applying for financial assistance returns an application to FPCNS by October 14th, they are contacted to schedule a school tour OR attend an Open House. Play dates for these children are scheduled in January or February. Notification letters will include potential financial assistance information, and will be mailed on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017.

Early Decision Notification Applicants

The option of Early Decision Notification is offered to siblings, children of alumni, and First Presbyterian Church members who are active in the life of the Church and who have joined the Church by the date listed below.* Applications for families eligible for Early Decision Notification may be downloaded from our website once you successfully complete the FPCNS Admissions Application Request Form.  The application must be completed and returned to FPCNS no later than noon on October 14th, 2016.  Parents returning completed Early Decision eligible applications by October 14th will be contacted to schedule a school tour OR attend an Open House. These applicants may choose to elect or decline Early Decision Notification in December 2016.  Play dates for families who opt for Early Decision notification will take place in January and their notification letters will be mailed on Friday, January 20th, 2017.

Please note that Early Decision Notification is never a guarantee of admission. Families in this category are always encouraged to research and apply to several nursery schools.

*Effective FPC Membership Dates:
FPC Members who have joined the Church by October 2014 will be eligible for Early Decision Notification in the fall of 2016, applying for the 2017-18 school year.
